Oregon Scientific Weather Stations – A Gift for All Seasons
From their formation in 1989, Oregon Scientific have been innovators of home weather stations. Todays Oregon Scientific home weather stations are electronic devices showing readings by a microprocessor. The readings will be displayed on the screen of the station or transmitted via radio waves to your computer.
Everyone has an interest in the weather, just listen to people on the street; it’s probably the most discussed general topic in the world. With this in mind, the Oregon scientific weather station comes in many guises but all with the same purpose – to let you know what is happening in the great outdoors.
A weather station needs to include the following to give a basic reading of the weather, a thermometer to read the temperature and a barometer for measuring air pressure. Then there is a rainfall gauge, which speaks for itself, an Anemometer to measure wind speed and direction and finally a Hygrometer to measure the humidity or amount of moisture in the air.
There are 2 Oregon Scientific weather stations at the top of their range which have all the bells and whistles, offering the full set of weather reading sensors including thermometer, barometer, anemometer, hygrometer plus a rainfall gauge that self empties. They can transmit the information up to 300ft which makes positioning options easier. These weather stations are the Complete Wireless Oregon Scientific Weather Station WMR968, and the Total Oregon Scientific Weather Monitoring Station WMR112A. The newer of the two is the Complete Wireless Weather Station WMR968 which has extra features including a touch screen, solar powered sensors and gauges and it is possible to connect it to your home computer or laptop. The slightly older WMR112A doesn’t have the touch screen or PC connectivity but is considerably cheaper if these are not a concern.
An Oregon Scientific weather station makes a great gift, with attractive designs, the devices can be desk or wall mounted and look really smart. Some of the models have color display screen and voice activation. Almost all of them are excellent time keepers, and reset themselves every day through automatic radio contact with the atomic clock in Colorado. The Outdoor sensors are compact and attractive.
